De Anna is a photo-realist painter and acrylic collage artist whose work is about the friction between belief and truth. Trained under Bruce Everett at California State University, Northridge, she spent decades mastering the technical disciplines of photo-realism before finding the subjects her skills had been waiting for.

Her current series, Sanctioned Blindness, examines Joseph Smith, founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of America’s most significant and contested religious movements. A sixth and seventh generation Mormon whose family line reaches back to Joseph Smith’s earliest followers, she brings both technical precision and personal authority to the work. She is currently relocating to Puriscal, Costa Rica, where a purpose-built studio awaits her next body of work.
